دوست داری تو قسمت نوشتاری و مصاحبه آزمون PTE بترکونی؟ یکی از بهترین روشها برای اینکه نمره بهتری به دست بیاری استفاده از Idiomها یا همون اصطلاحات خودمونه. اصطلاحاتی که براتون آماده کردم اصطلاحتی هست که در مراکز پیرسون (مرکز برگزار کننده آزمون PTE) آموزش داده میشه. پس با من تا آخر این مقاله همراه باشید و حتما به مثالی که برای هر اصطلاح آوردم دقت کنید.
Get out of hand
When things spiral out of your control, they get out of hand.
Example:
Things started getting out of hand when she lost her house keys.
این اصطلاح به معنی از کنترل خارج شدنه و زمانی که اوضاع از دست شما خارج بشه باید از این اصطلاح استفاده کنید.
Crunch Time The period just before a project’s deadline, when everyone is working their hardest to complete their work.
Example:
With her PTE test date just around the corner, it’s crunch time for Sally.
دوره زمانی قبل از اتمام یک پروژه رو میگن. وقتی که همه سخت مشغول کار کردن یا درس خوندن هست تا بهترین نمره رو توی آزمون بگیرن و یا پروژi رو سر تایم تحویل بدن. عین شما.
Dig in your heels It means to refuse to compromise or change your mind about something.
Example:
My brother wanted me to self-study for the PTE exam, but I dug in my heels and enrolled in the best Pearson center in our city.
وقتی که هر کی هر چی به شما میگه که بابا اون کار انجام نده ولی باز شما تصمیم میگیری که کاری که به نظر خودت درستتر هست انجام بدی از این اصطلاح استفاده میکنیم.
A dime a dozen
It’s used to refer to something common or average.
Example:
Language review packages are a dime a dozen these days, but not all of them can help you pass the PTE exam. Stick to PTE packages instead.
این یکی واقعا عالیه و وقتی چیزی یا کاری خیلی مرسوم باشه و همه اون کار انجام بدن از این اصلاح خیلی خفن استفاده میکنیم. شرط میبندم که هیچ کدومتون این اصطلاح نمیدونستین.
Get it out of your system
It’s the act of doing something you wanted to do for a long time.
Example:
He wasn’t sure how the teacher would react. However, he needed to get it out of his system. So, he told her about what he saw during the exam.
اگر برنامه یا فکری مدتها بود که توی سرتون بود و دوست داشتین که انجامش بدین حتما و حتما از این اصطلاح استفاده کنید.
Under the weather
To be sick or unable to go about one’s daily activities.
Example:
Sally attended her class at the Pearson center despite feeling under the weather.
اگر خدایی نکرده مریض هستید و یا اینکه توانایی انجام کارهای روزمره رو ندارید باید از این اصطلاح که عدم توانایی شما رو میرسونه استفاده کنید.
Comfort food
It refers to food that brings you comfort, makes you feel better, or reminds you of your childhood.
Example:
Sadly, the store was out of his comfort food.
اگه غذایی خیلی به شما حال میده و میچسبه بهتون و دوست دارید نوش جون کنید حتما از این اصطلاح استفاده کنید. عین قرومه سبزیهایی که مامان بزرگا تو بچگی برامون درست میکردن.
Let the chips fall where they may
To push through and accomplish something, without regard of its possible consequences.
Example:
No matter what happens, I’ll tell the truth in court. Let the chips fall where they may.
با یه اصطلاح خیلی خفن دیگه در خدمتتون هستم. وقتی که تصمیم به یه کاری گرفتین و نتیجهاش اصلا براتون مهم نیست از این اصطلاح استفاده کنید. تو مایههای هر چه بادا باد خودمونه.
A stone’s throw
It’s used to describe something that is nearby
Example:
The Pearson center was just a stone’s throw away from her condo, so she’s wasn’t in a hurry.
این اصطلاح خوراکه کسایی هست که میخوان برن استرالیا و وقتی ازش استفاده میکنیم که چیزی بهمون نزدیک باشه.
A catch
It’s used to describe someone worth having or marrying.
Example:
She’s definitely a catch. She’s beautiful, talented, and brilliant.
این اصطلاح باید برای کسایی بکار بریم که کیس بسیار مناسبی برای ازدواج هستن. این اصطلاح بفرست برای دوستای مجردت که فک میکنی باید ازدواج کنن.
Speak of the devil
It’s an expression spoken when the person you were just talking about suddenly showed up.
Example:
“I hope the professor doesn’t come today – oh. Speak of the devil, here he comes now.”
دیدی داری پشت سر کسی حرف میزنی یهو ظاهر میشه؟ دقیقا این اصطلاح خوراک کسایی هست که داری راجع بهشون حرف میزنی و عین عجل معلق ظاهر میشن.
Bite off more than you can chew
It’s when you take on something that’s too much for you to deal with.
Example:
Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Find PTE packages that’ll go well with your schedule and workload.
هر چی گشتم معنی بهتر و دقیقتر از لقمه رو اندازه دهنت بردار برای این اصطلاح پیدا نکردم.
On the ball
It’s used to describe someone who is doing a great job.
Example:
I’m so glad the PTE instructor is always on the ball. I never leave my Pearson center class without learning something new.
هر وقت کسی کارش خیلی خوب و خفن و به بهترین شکل ممکن انجام بده از این اصطلاح میتونید براش استفاده کنید.
He’s/She’s sitting on the fence
It’s used to describe someone who can’t make up his/her mind.
Example:
Stop sitting on the fence! Make up your mind on who you’re going to support.
اگه کسی نتونه تصمیمی که توی ذهنش داره رو عملی کنه و هی دست دست میکنه و اصلا قدرت تصمیم گیری نداره رو دیدین، این اصطلاح براش استفاده کنید چون میدونم که حسابی کلافتون کرده.
To be bent out of shape
To be angry, upset, or agitated.
Example:
Don’t get all bent out of shape – I’m sure he didn’t mean any harm. It’s just a misunderstanding.
